RICS urges industry to ‘value the planet’ with new campaign
Suzanne Lovell
RICS has launched a campaign calling for the real estate industry to do more to preserve the planet for the future.
The Value the Planet campaign promotes the adoption of the UN’s sustainability development goals for the built environment.
RICS is asking for increased action in the industry, guiding professionals to implement the SDG with online resources and best practices.
It has also published its Responsible Business report, supporting long-term sustainability and community and supplier engagement to promote “positive impacts on the environment”.
Matthew Howell, RICS UK managing director, said: “RICS’ Value the Planet campaign launch, will today provide our professionals with a new paper to assist them with implementing the UN goals, and RICS resources to help them be accountable for the sake of future generations. We are committed to supporting our professionals and firms in this area.
“This long-term campaign is an opportunity for the UK profession to show its green credentials and to lead on innovation, action and investment in a low-carbon economy to safeguard the planet and promote sustained economic growth and human security.”
