£18.85m infrastructure boost for Oxford North
Suzanne Lovell
Councillors in Oxford have agreed in principle to put £18.85 million towards infrastructure at the Northern Gateway site.
The 44-hectare development site includes the radical mixed-use Oxford North scheme of 90,000 sq m of commercial space, 480 homes and 180 hotel rooms, which was submitted in August by Thomas White Oxford.
The money is made up from the £8.85m Oxford North is expected to generate in CIL receipts, and £10m which has been provisionally secured from Homes England, subject to the scheme gaining planning permission.
The council says the funds are designed to ensure Oxford North meets its transport infrastructure and housing requirements but that the decision was made without prejudice to the planning application.
The site is a strategic one identified in the local plan for the development of employment space and housing.
